The Boeing 787 Dreamliner - Not so much of a dream now.

The long wait for the 787 has now been extended, after it's fifth push back for the takeoff date being pushed from much earlier this year, to perhaps next year. All this fuss has caused Qantas to cut its orders for the the larger variant of the plane the 787-9 and have exercised options to purchase the 787-8 (the smaller variant). Other airlines have also tried to make sure that they get at least some compenstaion for the late deliveries, For exmaple ANA (All Nippon Airlines) who was originaly going to be the launch customer is going to have to be put on hold.

But still Boeing are persisting on making the date that constantly keep pushing further and further away. Hopefully our generation will actually get to fly in the much awaited plane. The special thing about the 787 is that it targets the narrowbody range of international aircraft. Nearly replacing the Boeing 767. But this was also, a now delayed, counterattack the more sucessful Airbus A350 XWB which targets the wide body range of aircraft.
